Who Can Apply?
Applicants who wish to pursue a degree at the Graduate School must hold:
For Master’s Degree applications: A bachelor's degree from a programme recommended by the relevant Departmental Academic Board and approved by the Graduate School of Social Sciences Board.
For Doctorate Degree (PhD) applications: A master’s degree from a programme recommended by the relevant Departmental Academic Board and approved by the Graduate School of Social Sciences Board.
How to Apply
Applications to all Hacettepe University Graduate School programmes must be submitted online via the following link:

Log in and fill out the required fields in the Application Form.
Submit the Online Application Form to complete the application process.
You can check your application status on the main page by logging in with your email address and password.
Please Note: After finalising your application, please check the websites of the relevant Graduate School and programme for interview dates and any last-minute updates.
Required Documents for Application
Important Note: If you have a YU number at the time of application, the process of getting the graduate information: The 18-digit barcode number starting with YOK* on the upper right side of the document created with the Higher Education Student / Graduate Document Inquiry via Turkish e-Government will be used. If you do not have a YU number, the entry will be done manually.
If the candidate student has not yet graduated, the relevant field (✓) should be marked.
1. Candidate’s Registration and Exam Entry Form
After completing the online application, print two copies of the form generated by the system and sign them. One of the signed copies should be submitted to the Graduate School of Social Sciences for registration, and the other should be given to the department during the interview.
2. English Proficiency Exam Score
Applicants must submit a valid English language proficiency result. Accepted exams include YDS, YÖKDİL, CPE, TOEFL iBT, and PTE (for the non-Thesis Master’s Programme it is not mandatory, but you may gain extra points)
Ensure your score meets the minimum requirement of the programme to which you are applying.
You can find these requirements in the registration conditions of the relevant department.
3. TÖMER Exam Score
A minimum C1 level TÖMER certificate (issued by the Turkish and Foreign Language Application and Research Centre) is required.
The TÖMER certificate is compulsory for all programmes, except the following:
International Relations
PhD
Master’s Programme (with thesis)
Economics (English)
PhD
Master’s Programme (with thesis)
4. Graduate Exams
All programmes require graduate exam scores. Applicants must provide valid ALES, GRE or GMAT scores that meet the programme's minimum criteria. (for the non-Thesis Master’s Programme it is not mandatory, but you may gain extra points)
Upload a scanned copy or an internet print out of your exam score to the online application system.
ALES scores are valid for five years from the exam result date.
GRE/GMAT scores are valid for five years.
Check specific exam types and minimum scores in the department’s registration requirements.
5. Transcript
You must submit notarised or officially attested transcripts in English or Turkish for your completed or ongoing undergraduate and graduate studies.
Transcripts from the e-Devlet (Turkish e-Goverment) system are accepted.
Transcripts lacking the issuer’s name or seal will not be accepted.
PhD applicants must submit both undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
Upload only PDF versions to the system.
For Master’s Degree applications: An original undergraduate transcript showing GPA is required.
For PhD applications: Original undergraduate and master’s transcripts with GPA are required.
Only original transcripts are accepted — photocopies will not be considered.
Transcripts are evaluated based on the 100-point grading system. If your transcript uses different point system it will be converted by using the link.
Check the required GPA in the department's registration conditions.
6. Reference Letters
Only certain departments require two reference letters. (Please contact the relevant department.)
There is no specific template; consult the relevant department for details.
7. School Recognition and Diploma Equivalence
(Not only international applicants but also Turkish citizens with degrees from foreign institutions)
According to YÖK’s policy:
If you do not have an Equivalence Certificate, you should apply with a “YÖK Recognition Document”.
Equivalency certificate is only required for candidates who have completed their education abroad and who are Turkish and international nationals applying to the Clinical Psychology Master's and PhD Programme. (In cases where the time to obtain the equivalency certificate is long, conditional registration can be made with the document that the application has been made to YÖK)
8. Copy of Passport)
Submit a copy of your passport printed on A4 paper.
